Solo Adventure!

Today was absolutely beautiful! I decided that I needed a bit of an adventure by myself, so at the recommendation of Jeff I decided to take a walk. Well, not a little walk by American standards, but a REAL walk. Follow me...

Off we go! This walk starts on Kensington Street.

Just one of the humble little apartment buildings I walk by everyday.

Gloucester to Leicester Square. Leicester Square to Camden.

Umm... THAT way.

In case you forget where we are.

Camden is HAPPENIN' today.

Down the steps to the canal.

A view from the bridge from ^ that ^ photo.

This doorway leads to this juice. We're best friends.

I don't know if you've heard of Banksy. He's a graffiti artist, and I'm a BIG fan.
I don't know if you've heard of King Robbo. He and Banksy are in a graffiti war.
This is Robbo vandalizing Banksy's work. Boo.

P.S. How the heck did they do that?

In my own little world.

I should definitely follow you. Too bad you don't lead anywhere.

No kidding.

Robbo again?!?! Leave Banksy alone, sir.

Am I even in London anymore?

Hmm... I wonder where this goes...

Sad little soccer ball... Don't worry, I'll play with you.

Finally, I found it. The top of that hill has my name and my lunch's number.

Up we go!

Taking it all in.

I needed two pictures to show you the view.

Just me and my sammy, lovin' life.

This is what I was supposed to be doing today. I'm glad I didn't do it.

So, right about now was the time my camera died. I got really frustrated. However, my camera dying made me realize that when I have it, I don't appreciate things as much as I would otherwise. Of course, I still notice the beautiful things around me. But once I take that picture, it's almost as if there is no need to keep taking in the real thing, because now that specific moment is mine forever. There is SO much that you can't capture on film, especially in London. For instance, these are the things I may not have noticed if I had been focused on taking pictures.

The five snow white ducks with sunflower yellow beaks swimming in a perfect queue (I'm English!) under a weeping willow tree.

The baby girl in a pink flowered dress lying face down on her dad's tummy, arms out like Superman.

The most beautiful blue eyes of the boy who serves Roskilly Cornish Ice Cream out of a cart like he's sculpting a masterpiece. It took him at least two minutes a cone, but believe me, it's worth it.

The one little boy toddling after a soccer ball with his dad in a sea of crowded sports fields. In the middle of Regent's Park, there is sports field after sports field, from soccer to baseball to soccer to some crazy game with a huge paddle to more soccer.

The sun shining through those amazingly bright leaves on that very specific tree near the Hub.

The man carrying sandwiches who needs directions and blatantly says, "You're American, aren't you?" And then revels in the fact that he's right. "Well, then enjoy your stay, miss," with a big smile on his face.

The older gentleman softly saying to his wife, "That's the way to the rose garden," without knowing I was obviously going to follow him. I've never seen so many colors on so many roses in one place before in my life.

And there are so many more things I could tell you about. But here's the thing. I can't. I couldn't take a picture, and absolutely no one was with me, and you might think they were trivial and frivolous anyway, so those memories are mine and mine alone. Sorry, but go get your own. :)
